BDF August Sponsor Telstra Business

Speakers:  Greg Whitehead, Principal, Shelston IP
Topic: The positive role of intellectual property (IP) in business

Greg will provide some practical tips for obtaining positive commercial benefits by aligning your IP strategy with your business goals. The session will provide you with take-away reference points for identifying when the various available IP rights might apply to your own projects and related dealings with third parties. Various businesses from start-up companies to SME’s can benefit, including those seeking to be investor ready, exporting to foreign markets, or otherwise aiming to expand or grow.

Greg will touch on:

·        Identifying IP – how do you identify your IP assets?

·        Capturing IP – how does a business register its IP (patents, trade marks, registered designs)?

·        Deriving value from IP – what are the various ways in which a business can benefit from holding IP rights (license agreements)?

·        Understanding how government grants can be used to support your IP strategy (R&D Tax Incentives and Export Market Development Grants)

You will better understand your own IP position and the potential value this can bring to your business.
