Topic: Transport for NSW's vision for Greater Newcastle and an update on recent work in the region

  • Transport for NSW’s vision for a world class transport system that meets the needs of Greater Newcastle’s residents, businesses and visitors
  • An update on recent work to improve transport services and infrastructure in the region
  • The use of evidence such as Opal data to inform planning and service delivery
  • How Transport for NSW is embracing emerging transport technologies, including the work of Transport for NSW’s Smart Innovation Centre
  • How Transport for NSW is shaping engagement with emerging transport technologies and innovative mobility as models to better manage congestion, support the roll-out of electric, connected and automated vehicles, and the shared economy.

Tim is currently Chief Transport Planner, leading the strategic planning of transport for the entire transport cluster in NSW covering all transport modes as well as considering transport’s impact on places.

Tim was responsible for producing, and now implementing Future Transport 2056 – the 40 year plan that will shape the future of transport services, infrastructure and policy in NSW. Future Transport provides a long-term strategic vision for NSW by looking at and responding to changing demographic, customer and technology trends to positively impact the economy, communities and environment of NSW.

Tim has held a number of senior roles in the public sector in major project planning and transport strategy, including Head of the Bureau of Transport Statistics.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hon) in Applied Economic Geography from the University of New South Wales, and a Master of Transport Management from the University of Sydney.
